Are You Grieving the Loss of a Loved One? Suffield Community Aid’s Bereavement Support Group Can Help.

The group will meet at SCA located at 450 South Street, Suffield on Friday mornings from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. beginning March 22 and ending on May 17. (There is no class on April 19.) 

The program is offered at no cost and a light lunch will be provided. The Suffield Mini-Bus will be available to assist with transport, but residents must call and reserve in advance. 

Registration is required and space is limited – please call Linda Huff at 860-290-6771 to register.

Are Meals-on-Wheels an Option for You?

Qualified homebound seniors, age 60 and over, living in Suffield can receive healthy lunches and dinners delivered to their door. 

Meals are balanced, nutritious and diet specific. A $2.50 donation per meal is suggested to help cover costs. Please contact SCA!

Dementia Care Giver Support Group:

The group meets the last Tuesday of each month at 450 South Street, Suffield at 11 a.m. 

The next meeting is Tuesday, March 28. You do not need to be a resident of Suffield to attend. The group is led by a trained Alzheimer’s Association facilitator, Nicole Matson of Home Helpers of Central CT.

Suffield Garden Club Brightens Winter Day Blues for Suffield Meals-On-Wheels Recipients

The Suffield Garden Club donates beautiful floral arrangements through their “Posies to Go” program for residents that are on Meals-On-Wheels. 

Not only do our residents enjoy receiving these floral beauties, the volunteers enjoy delivering them too!

Parkinson’s Peer Support Group Meets Monthly at the Suffield Senior Center

Come share ideas and resources in the management and treatment of Parkinson’s disorder. The next meeting is March 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.. 

Caregivers are welcome and encouraged to attend. Topics vary monthly. Refreshments/lunch are served.

A special thanks to Spaulding Elementary School, again this year, for the incredible donation of 962 items from their successful Soup-er Bowl Food Drive!

James F. Coggins, Jr. Community Service Award Open to Applicants!

In memory of our late volunteer and board member, James F. Coggins, Jr., SCA offers a $1,000 community service award to a graduating Suffield High School senior who demonstrates selflessness, generosity and concern for the community through volunteer activities. 

Applicants are required to submit a 500-word essay supporting their selection to SCA at 450 South Street, Suffield 06078 or email to janetf@suffieldcommunityaid.org. 

The deadline to apply is midnight on Monday, May 13, 2019.

Jane Purtill Fuller Scholarship for Nursing or Social Service Candidates

To recognize the many contributions of our past employee and long-time supporter of Suffield Community Aid, the Board of Directors dedicates an annual needs-based scholarship in memory of Jane Purtill Fuller. 

This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating Suffield High School senior pursuing a nursing or social service field of study. 

Applicants wishing to apply are encouraged to fill out the common application at the Suffield High School or please call SCA. The application deadline is May 13, 2019.
