Scholar-Sip Wine Tasting
Come join the Suffield Rotary Club for some fun, some food, and yes… some wine, infused liquors, hors d’oeuvres, food tables, and a raffle. Hosted at Suffield by the River on Friday, May 17 at 7:30 p.m., funds raised from the event will be used primarily for scholarships for Suffield students and other community-based projects. The Rotary provides about ten $1,000 scholarships a year. Local businesses will be donating raffle prizes. Tickets for the event are $35 per person/$60 per couple. Another popular event, the 28th Annual Glenn T. Packard Memorial Golf Tournament is scheduled for Friday, August 9. Details on it will be forthcoming.
The Suffield High School Interact Club
Rotary Clubs all over the world, actually 159 countries, sponsor an Interact Club. The Suffield Rotary Club sponsors one at the high school; it is one of 20,372 clubs. Interactors develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self, the Rotary’s motto. Rotary members mentor these students to take action and make a difference in the Suffield community. The most recent project was the funding and rebuilding of a chicken coop at Hilltop Farms. Each month during the school year, the Rotary Club recognizes students who are active in the community. This year, the Club will provide Rotary shawls to 29 seniors at graduation.
