Suffield Youth Services and Kent Memorial Library are working together to help SHS students manage the stress of finals. Parents can encourage their students to attend the June 4 Study with A Therapy Dog session at the Youth Center located in the Senior Center on Bridge Street. From 6 to 7:30 p.m. students can study with friends, steady the nerves with therapy dogs and nourish the soul with pizza and treats. Why study alone when you can be with friends? “Healers with Halos” have been very generous with their time, and the students really enjoy petting the dogs while they study. There is an immediate calming effect when the dogs arrive,” said Nikki Lengyel, Youth Services director. “The students study alone, or together and often ask each other for help. They can take a break for a short game of ping pong and then go back to work.”

That Friday, students will find both organizations in the hallway for the start of final exams. Extra pencils, stress balls and encouraging words will set the tone for a successful day of testing.

Thanks to the Friends of Kent Memorial Library for their support.
