The event always takes place on the Town Greens in the center of town the weekend after Labor Day. This year it is Saturday, September 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, September 8 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hosted by the Friends of Suffield, the annual event features booths by local businesses and organizations like Scouts, religious groups, emergency services and more.

There are three greens. The Friends of Suffield refer to them as the North Green, the Center Green, and the South Green. This action-packed event will include a Kid Zone on the North Green. As indicated by the name, the focus of this green is on younger kid-oriented events. Tickets can be purchased at the Friends of Suffield booth on the North Green for time in an Inflatable Bounce House or Obstacle Course. This is also where the much beloved Canine Contest happens on Sunday (registration at 12:00 and contest at 1:00). Remember this is also the location for the rope bridge and more so visit www.FriendsOfSuffield.org/SOTGEntertainment.html for the latest information.

The Center Green is where the majority of community booths are including town services, churches, local businesses, and high school classes. Come out and support them all. The center green also hosts the 49th Craft Fair showcasing original, hand-made pieces.

Head down to the South Green for delicious food prepared by volunteer groups, as well as entertainment and live music of many genres. Many community groups will provide amazing demonstrations to entertain. This is also the green with information regarding the 350th celebration planned for next year. It is a great place where friends and acquaintances re-unite and catch up amidst children’s laughter, dogs’ barking, and live music playing.

Last but not least, the Suffield Mini Bus provides a free shuttle bus to get you to the green should you not be able to park close. The bus leaves approximately every 20 minutes from the Suffield Middle School parking lot on Mountain Road (look for the blue balloons). This service is a short, safe ride to and from Suffield on the Green. There will be two drop off points: the first, by the Library’s book sale at Sacred Heart Church, and the second, by Second Baptist Church. Enjoy some free coffee and see the new Kneece Chapel the Second Baptist Church has renovated and made available for use. Then you can go right next door to the Bissell’s Meeting House for free tasting of their delicious homemade soups!

Net proceeds raised are given back to the community through grants. Contributions are welcome – and appreciated – at the Friends of Suffield booth. You can get maps of all exhibitor and vendor locations at the Friends of Suffield booth, or visit our website ahead of time and download and print maps of all the exhibitors.
