Remembering Suffield Town Center

The demolition of the old Suffield, Connecticut town center was the biggest mistake the Town ever made. Why wasn’t the town center placed in the Historic District by the Historic District Commission? What ‘old money’ Suffield families, with direct influence on the Redevelopment Agency and Suffield Center Corporation, benefited most? The elitists cashed in and turned downtown Suffield into an upscale Avonish albatross with utopian Simsburian staleness.

As the 350th anniversary of the town nears, this sad part of Suffield’s history should not be forgotten. I remember it well and it still saddens many former and current Suffield residents.
