Chief’s Goodbye

Print More

I have decided to take an opportunity and retire early from the Town Of Suffield. My last day as a full time employee will be October 4, 2019. I have made the offer to the Board of Directors that I can stay on part time until such time as they find a permanent replacement. I am sure there will much more information on this coming out shortly. In the interim we will be maintaining the status quo, all things that normally come to me will continue till further notice.

This was a tough decision for me and my family, I have been an active member here for almost 20 years. Some of you may remember that I served as chief for five years then spent the next four and a half as a volunteer and a member of the Board of Directors. In 2009 I returned as Chief. Moving on is always difficult but while I am changing my role here over the next few months, I am not leaving entirely but just moving to a new chapter. I want to thank everyone for the support over the past years and look forward to helping the organization select the next Chief.

I may be taking an early retirement. However, I am still going to work in EMS and will taking over as Executive Director of Bennington Rescue Squad in Vermont on October 7. If you find yourself in the area please stop by and check in, we will always be part of the SVAA family.
