The Suffield Land Conservancy is excited to announce a new partnership between the SLC and Suffield Public Schools. The SLC has acquired land located on Sheldon Street across from the high school’s entrance. The land is a total of 23.22 acres. Our goal is to create an outdoor educational preserve that would be used by all members of the community including Suffield Public School students and local organizations. This opportunity will allow students and members of this community to connect and create a stewardship to Suffield lands while also utilizing the environment for learning purposes. We are currently pursuing grants and donations so that the learning preserve can be sustainable.

The property will be organized into a series of learning hubs that will include high and low platforms for observation and study along with Adirondack shelters for outdoor classroom experiences. Our goal is to raise $120,000 to ensure the sustainability of this project.

On Saturday, March 21 the Suffield Foundation for Excellent Schools will be holding their annual Gala at the Springfield Country Club. They will be raising money for grants that support innovative educational opportunities for Suffield Public School students. We would love to see you there! Tickets can be purchased for the SLC’s table to help fundraise for this endeavor. Interested members of the community who would like to purchase seats at the table can visit the SFES website and request the tables of captains Chris Childs or Joseph Grimard.
