Gas Station to Reopen

Pictured at the end of April, a big excavator scoops another shovelful out of the crater where the plastic tanks at the left will be buried. Sam’s, the convenience store at the end of East Street North (where Mapleton Avenue continues as Route 159) plans to reopen after being closed for several years. (The Sam’s Food Store cashier at Ebb’s Corner commented that his Sam’s has no connection with the one on Mapleton Avenue. Evidently “Sam’s” has become a generic brand name, like Kleenex.)
