Suffield Farmers Market

Suffield’s Farmers Market begins its 2020 summer season on Saturday, June 20th as a special “essential services edition” following the guidelines of the Connecticut Department of Agriculture for this COVID-19 time we are in.

The State of Connecticut considers the Farmers Markets:

1. Essential to the local community

2. A venue to buy healthy, local food

3. An opportunity for shopping while practicing social distancing

4. An avenue for the customers to connect with the person who grew their food. When a shopper can see a healthy farmer, it reinforces the benefits of the food they’re buying from the market.

With that in mind, we hope you will support our Market as we work to supply you with fresh products and some craft items as we meet the social distancing guidelines.  We’ll be spreading out and sporting masks and gloves.  Details will be provided about changes to our set up on our Facebook page and website.

We have a number of familiar vendors that will be back again this year to provide a wide assortment of locally grown fresh fruits, produce, and hand-crafted products.  Some of our returning vendors are Cupola Hollow, Merry Mite Wild Gardens, Easy Pickins, Maplewood Farms, Simpaug Farms, Bielonko Farms and Julie the Garden Fair.  We are still finalizing the details and talking to other vendors.

Come join this weekly community event where you can buy seasonal products such as plants, shrubs, vegetables, meats, floral bouquets, honey, farm fresh eggs, fruits, berries, herbs, vegetable plants, garden art, jams, jelly, pickles, fudge, baked goods, hand crafted soaps and homemade items.

The market is held rain or shine every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12. noon on the southern Town Green conveniently located in the center of town.   The Market will run through Columbus Day weekend in October.

Most of the farms in the market participate in the WIC coupon program and some of our vendors are now SNAP certified as well for your convenience.
