Friends of KML Book Sale Cancelled

It is with much regret that the Friends of the Library have decided to cancel their annual book sale, which had been scheduled to take place this September at Father Ted Hall. This sale thrives on the crowds of customers who pore over thousands of books displayed on tables divided by narrow aisles. Social distancing is impossible. Many of these customers and the majority of our volunteers are over the age of 65, putting them at increased risk from COVID-19. We believe that it will not be safe to hold a book sale until a vaccine for the coronavirus becomes available to all. We hope that will happen by the summer of 2021, so that we can have a grand book sale on September 10-12, 2021.

The Friends look forward to resuming book collections as soon as the library staff and town officials deem that it is safe to do so. Once the Friends get the go-ahead, an announcement will appear in The Suffield Observer. In the meantime, if possible, please save your book donations for us for next year’s sale.
