The Town of Suffield held an intimate and socially distanced groundbreaking today to kick-off the long-awaited Town Hall renovation and addition project. Suffield First Selectwoman Melissa M. Mack, Facilities Manager Chris Matejek and Permanent Building Commission Chairman Joe Sangiovanni attended. The scheduled six-month makeover includes a one-story addition of approximately 606 square feet to the current footprint. The expansion allows for a larger vault as mandated by State Statute. The renovation makes needed updates to HVAC and ADA accessibility while addressing issues related to moisture, indoor air quality and hazardous materials. A larger town meeting room completes the work. Voters approved a $5.130M budget at referendum in 2015. The town contracted a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) of $5.11M with Gilbane Building Company and QA+M architects.
