The street lights in Suffield have been owned by Eversource. However the Town decided to purchase them in a cost-savings effort. The Town paid Eversource $389,000 for the lights and an additional $270,000 to Red Thread to update them to LCD lighting.

According to Chris Matejek, the Town’s facilities manager, with an additional $73,000 up-grade, the cost-savings for the Town will be $58,000 a year. This will create a pay-back period to the Town of nine years.

Work on the project had been slated to begin on October 16, pending weather conditions. At this time, there is no definite plan detailing how the work will proceed around town.
