The Suffield Board of Education is pleased to announce the official appointment of Mrs. Melissa Todd as the Assistant Principal of McAlister Intermediate School. The Board of Education’s unanimous decision follows Mrs. Todd’s successful six-month tenure as the Interim Assistant Principal and a formal interview conducted last evening with the Board of Education.

For those of you who do not know Mrs. Todd, she came to the Suffield Public Schools in 2018 as an Instructional Coach after serving eleven years in various positions in the East Hartford Public Schools. Her career path from classroom teacher to Instructional Coach and now to Assistant Principal highlights the commitment and passion she has for teaching and learning. To her credit, Mrs. Todd has amassed a breadth of knowledge in the realms of elementary literacy and mathematics pedagogy, as well as research-based intervention programs. While teaching in the East Hartford Public Schools, she gained invaluable insight on the continuum of international programming while playing a key role in the O’Connell School International Baccalaureate authorization process. Mrs. Todd also currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of literacy instruction to graduate level students at the University of St. Joseph.

In terms of her educational background, Assistant Principal Todd completed her Bachelor of Arts at Eastern Connecticut State University. She went on to receive her Master of Arts in Elementary Education at the University of St. Joseph, and her Sixth Year in Educational Administration from Central Connecticut State University. Mrs. Todd also participated in the East Hartford Public Schools Leadership Academy – a program designed to offer mentoring and leadership opportunities to aspiring district administrators.

It is with tremendous hope and anticipation that we look to the future of McAlister Intermediate Schools under the leadership of Principal Price and Assistant Principal Todd.
