Happenings at First Church of Christ

Due to COVID-19 all in-church events and gatherings, including worship, have been moved online*.

First Church is excited to be in our Lent and Easter Season for 2021! Our theme, A Way Other Than Our Own, is based on the devotional book by Walter Brueggemann. We will explore how God calls each of us out of exile to walk a challenging path of love and grace.

Our new Blessing Box located outside of First Church has already begun serving our community and neighbors. The Blessing Box is a resource for people in need to leave or take non-perishable food, hygiene products and small seasonal clothing items. Our Blessing Box was built by our own Jacob Carroll of Suffield.

Here are the things happening at First Church in March 2021.

Wednesday mornings:  Lenten Study at 10 a.m. via Zoom. Our weekly Bible Study led by Rev. Diann H Bailey will be focusing on the book A Way Other Than Our Own by Walter Brueggemann. Books are available for purchase on Amazon. For more information on Bible Study, or to join our group, contact Senior@fcsuffield.org.

Wednesday evenings: we will be offering a virtual Lenten Evening Service, beginning on Ash Wednesday and continuing through Holy Week. We will not have an evening service on March 31 (Holy Week). Services will be available on our YouTube page at 7 p.m.

We begin to celebrate Holy Week with Palm Sunday on March 28. Our Palm Sunday Worship Service will be available at 10 a.m. on our YouTube page. Our Holy Week services will continue with Maundy Thursday Service on April 1, Good Friday Service on April 2, and Easter Sunday Service on April 4. All services will be virtual and available on our YouTube page. All are welcome to worship with us!

Our Online Worship services include prayers, scripture, sermon and a variety of music through our YouTube page. Anyone who is interested in Worshiping At-Home with us is encouraged to join! Our At-Home Worship services are created in a way that allows you the freedom to worship with us at your own pace and on your schedule. Emails with links, and links through our website, are available at 10 a.m. each Sunday. You can tune into worship at 10 a.m. on our Youtube page or you can access our service at any time after the links are sent.

Our newsletter, the Weekly Witness, keeps our friends and congregation informed of our missions, giving, community interaction, online faith gatherings, prayer groups, At-Home Worship, and much more! To sign up for our newsletter emails and our At-Home Worship emails, you can contact the church office at office@fcsuffield.org with a request, or you can go to our Website home page www.firstchurchsuffield.org, scroll down to “Subscribe” and add your information. Our worship services are also available under our Announcements section on the top left of our homepage. No subscription is needed.

If you have further questions, please call the church office and leave a message. Our staff and Reverend are ready to assist you or provide information as needed. God bless and stay safe!
