The Suffield Land Conservancy (SLC) is pleased to announce the recent donation of over 60 acres of land off of Taintor Street. The Robert W. Baker Nursery and Baker family gave this property to preserve the lot that includes woodlands, open meadows and wetland areas, including vernal pools.

The primary goal of the SLC is to selectively accumulate critical properties that exemplify the biodiversity of our town. With this major gift, the organization now owns over 670 acres of land in Suffield. Properties include a large part of the Metacomet Trail on the West Suffield Ridge, a bog on Congamond Lake and the meadows surrounding the Silver Creek development. The Conservancy uses these properties to educate our citizens about our natural surroundings and the importance that nature plays in the health of our planet. All properties are open to the public and low impact usage is encouraged.
