Here at Kent Memorial Library we make Winter extra fun! Join our Winter Reading Program for adults, teens and kids beginning February 7. Win prizes, enjoy weekly give-aways and participate in programming made just for our patrons, like learning about beer with Em Sauter, the award-winning author, cartoonist, public speaker and beer educator.

Sauter is an Advanced Cicerone (like a sommelier, but for beer) and the author of Beer is for Everyone (of Drinking Age)! and the upcoming Hooray for Craft Beer! Join Sauter on February 16 on Zoom for this whimsical guide to the world of beer!  Using a clever and interactive illustrated presentation, Pints and Panels, you will learn about the history of beer and what makes different styles stand out from each other. We’ll travel the globe and see how the world drinks and enjoys beer in unique and fascinating ways. Her website, www.pintsandpanels.com, features new visual beer educational content every weekday.

Sign up at the circulation desk for your Winter Reading Program welcome packet and raffle tickets. Registration for programming is online at suffield-library.org.

The Children’s Department also invites you to cozy up with book challenges and rewards and programs like our Learn-To-Draw Valentine’s program with local comic illustrator Rick Stromoski and a hands-on lesson in Korean lantern-making!

Sign-up at KML at the children’s desk for your Winter Reading Welcome Bag, filled with lots of goodies and your raffle ticket for one of many fantastic prizes. Miss Wendy will host Zoom story times and Ms. Sandy is making crafts.

Teens grades 5-12 have their own Winter Reading bags, raffles and other special events, like an afterschool hot chocolate party in the brick courtyard!.

Many of our regular events continue through February, including our Books & Beyond event, Thursday, February 24 at 7 p.m. via Zoom. Meet Christine Pride & Jo Piazza, authors of We Are Not Like Them, a novel that explores the story of two women thrust into circumstances that challenge their friendship.

KML is always adding to its offerings, with updates on the website, suffield-library.org, our Facebook and Instagram Pages and feel free to call for more information at 860-668-3896. SIgn-up for our monthly newsletter on our website. Thanks to the Friends of KML for their programming support.
