First Church returned to in-person worship, masked, on February 20. All are welcome to worship with us at First Church. Scan the QR code provided to reach our YouTube page and join us for worship online at 10 a.m. every Sunday. Our services are always available online at your convenience.

In many churches, the word, “Alleluia” is buried, or put away, on Ash Wednesday. It’s not meant to be spoken until the end of Lent. This makes sense because the 40 days (plus Sundays) of Lent are a time of prayer and quiet reflection, a time of fallowness and rest and longing, a time for growing deep. On Easter, all those buried Alleluias sprout up everywhere, in all the prayers and songs. They flower on the tongue.

We welcome you to a Lent that’s full of flowers! When things may seem most barren and flowerless, we hope you’ll join us in considering the lilies, as Jesus asked us to do. And not just the lilies, but the tulips, the forget-me-nots, the snowdrops, the weeds, and the corpse flower too, to see what they might have to teach us about life and death and resurrection on Easter morning. Hope Blooms Eternal this Lent and Easter season!

We kick off our Lent season on Ash Wednesday, March 2, at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary for our Ash Wednesday Service.

Rev. Diann will offer weekly Lenten Prayers each Wednesday at 7 p.m., available on our YouTube page.

Quiet Day is scheduled for Friday, March 25. Quiet Day is a self-guided Lenten Journey at First Church through various stations set-up for all ages. Drop in anytime between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.; please wear a mask and remember to use hand sanitizer at the various stations. Our souls require rejuvenation and reflection, and it can be difficult to find the quiet time needed. We welcome everyone to this unique and socially-distant self-directed journey.

Rev. Diann continues to offer Wednesday morning Bible Study at 10 a.m. each week via Zoom. Contact us to join the study group. All are welcome to join.

Mark your calendars for our Holy Week and Easter services. Beginning on Palm Sunday, April 10 with our 10 a.m. Worship service. We will also offer a Maundy Thursday Service (7 p.m., April 14), Good Friday Service (3 p.m., April 15), Easter Sunrise Service (6 a.m., April 17 at Sunrise Park), and 10 a.m. Easter Celebration Service (April 17, First Church Sanctuary).

Our Blessing Box is located right in front of First Church on High Street and is open to our neighbors and community members to “take what you need; leave what you can”. We encourage our community to donate what they can to the Blessing Box.

First Church hosts support groups in our building for their meetings, including Narcotics Anonymous, Families Anonymous, and Alcoholics Anonymous. Please wear a mask. Contact us for the full list of meeting information.

Our staff and Minister are ready to assist you or provide information as needed; God bless and stay safe!
