Lots of events going on in the month of June!

We continue to seek volunteers for the event. Sign up on our town website. Parking will be behind the CVS, across from the town garage.

Also, that weekend, June 18, the Farmers Market begins, so join us from 9 a.m.-noon on the Town Green.

River Valley will be hosting a rabies drive-in clinic, rain or shine, June 18 from 9-1 a.m.

On June 4 from noon-3 p.m., ABAR will be hosting a Pride Rally on the Town Green for those interested.

Saturday June 11, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m., is the regional household waste collection day. The collection will be held at the Simsbury Public Works at 66 Town Forest Road, Simsbury.

The Suffield Tree Committee will be having events throughout June: Photo contest and a tree care and pruning workshop.

Information about all these great June events and many others for the year can be found on the town website.

Happy to announce that Peter Leclerc will be our very first Community Services Director. Congrats Pete.

Welcome Susan Smyth, our new Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Police.

Our long time Highway Foreman, Mark Cervione, has officially announced his retirement for July. Thank you, Mark, for everything! Our search for a new foreman is underway.

Ted Flanders, our Building Official will be retiring in July also. Our search continues for a building official.

Thank you to all the residents who came out to Babb’s Skating Rink last month to take a look inside and share their thoughts and ideas about the potential for the building.

This month, my Fridays with Your First Selectman will be on June 17 at the Suffield Summer Fair. I will be at the entrance of the Fair from 5-6 p.m. to greet and welcome all to the first night of the event.

Work on the Mountain Road Multi Use Trail is still projected to be done by the end of this month. Be on the lookout for a grand opening in late June or early July.

Bear with us this summer as Connecticut Water is in the process of replacing pipe on Route 159 between Thompsonville Rd and River Boulevard Extension. Suffield PD is doing their best to route and direct traffic as quickly and safely as possible. If you can avoid that area, do so. If not, please have patience and understanding.

Stay cool and enjoy your summer!
