Celebrating Trails Day

Over 180 Trails Day events took place across the state on June 4 and 5 to mark the day. Trails Day was established in 1993 by the American Hiking Society. According to the Connecticut Forest and Park Association, Connecticut has the largest annual Trails Day celebration in the nation. State Representative Tami Zawistowski hosted a hike along the Windsor Locks Canal Trail State Park in celebration of Trails Day. The hike was joined by members of the Friends of the Canal volunteer group, who help maintain and preserve the trail.
