Thanks to the patronage of shoppers and supporters across the Suffield community and the dedication of volunteers, the Suffield Second Chance Shop has raised $78,000 this year to support crucial, life-changing services offered by The Village for Families and Children that help families in need face and overcome challenges in order to heal and thrive.

For more than 50 years, the Suffield Second Chance Shop, located at 116 Mountain Road, has been supporting The Village’s programs that build a community of strong, healthy families who protect and nurture children by selling new and gently used clothing, accessories, antiques, toys and household items.

The Shop is run and managed entirely by volunteers, and all proceeds from the shop help support The Village’s broad range of services for children, adults and families, including behavioral health services, financial coaching and free tax assistance, basic needs and family strengthening support and more.

The Suffield Second Chance Shop presented their grand total raised in the last year to Village President and CEO Galo Rodriguez at a ceremony at Suffield Country Club in June. The Village’s four Second Chance Shops in West Hartford, Glastonbury, Simsbury and Suffield are instrumental in providing an outlet to give new and gently used clothing a second life and provide affordable, high-quality clothing options in the communities they serve. In their more than 50 years in operation, proceeds from the Second Chance Shops have brought in more than $6 million to support The Village.

The Suffield Second Chance Shop is open from 10 a.m.– 2 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Donations of new or gently used clothing are accepted during normal business hours. To learn more visit thevillage.org/second-chance-shops or call the Suffield Shop at 860-668-2841.
