Suffield Parks and Recreation, in partnership with the Trees for Suffield Initiative, is offering adult and youth photography workshops that will give you ideas and tips, help you gain confidence, and give you more reasons to get outdoors and start taking pictures.

This professional photograph (taken on Halladay Avenue West) would qualify for the Multi-Tree Landscape category.

The workshops, led by Chad Lemmens of Lemmens Creative Design, will have you excited to try new things using your camera. After some initial instruction and a photo scavenger hunt, Chad will help you select your best photos and take them to the next level. Want to try aerial photography? Chad will be bringing his drones!

The youth program (ages 8 & up) is from 12 noon to 1 p.m., and the adult program is from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, at Sunrise Park. Family groups can attend either session. Participants should bring either a cell phone or a traditional camera for their use. Registration for the program is through the Parks & Recreation department. Registration deadline is October 26.

After the workshop, select your best two photos to enter in the Trees for Suffield contest.

Contest deadline is November 23. Photo categories include single tree portraits, multi-tree landscapes, and close-ups of trees, leaves, bark, etc. Go to suffieldct.gov/things-to-do/trees-for-Suffield and submit your entry today. The workshops are free, but donations to the Trees for Suffield Fund are greatly appreciated.
