Tree Specialist To Speak At Land Conservancy

Please join us at 7 p.m., December 8, at the Senior Center for the Suffield Land Conservancy’s annual meeting. Non-members are welcome to join us to hear our guest speaker John Kehoe. He is a Licensed Arborist who works at the University of Connecticut, Storrs campus, as an Adjunct Instructor for the College of Agriculture (NRME), teaching the “Fundamentals of Arboriculture”. His talk will cover native and ornamental tree selection, transplanting and winter protection. John will work with the SLC to identify and mark various tree species at the McClean Outdoor Preserve on Sheldon Street and lead a tree identification walk there on February 26th.

John is a second-generation arborist; he was formerly a University Arborist at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, and City Forester for the City of Hartford. He has practiced arboriculture for more than forty-five years. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture from the University of Connecticut and an Associate of Science degree in Arboriculture and Park Management from the Stockbridge School of Agriculture at the University of Massachussetts.
