Arbor Day

The Trees for Suffield Initiative is gaining momentum. In 2022, our first year, we planted eight of the trees from our 10-year phased planting plan. This year we’ll plant 16 trees, and in 2024 we’re looking to double our numbers again. This is all made possible by the generosity of donors.

On Arbor Day, with perfect planting weather on the horizon, we made sure our new trees were in the ground in time to take full advantage of the rain.

Not one, not two, but three trees were added to this wide-open stretch between Barista Cafe and Kent Memorial Library. Tree committee members, crew from Bill’s Landscaping, our first Selectman, Barista Cafe owners and M&T Bank Asst. VP all braved the rain for the planting of the last Arbor Day tree. The Trees for Suffield Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving is growing. We’re steadily moving toward reaching our goal. Thanks to all who’ve supported us this past year, especially our Arbor Day sponsors who stepped forward to make the day a success: Bill’s Landscaping, Cafe Barista owners Ajay and Shalu Malhotra, Dowd Group Realty, M&T Bank, Sikes Tree Service and Sotil Tree Service.
