SCA Update
“Stamp Out Hunger” Mail Carriers Food Drive
WOW—thank you, Suffield! We are so grateful for the tremendous number of donations we received from the May 13 Food Drive. Your generosity helped to stock our Food Pantry shelves and will benefit many residents in need! A huge thank you, too, to our Suffield mail carriers and all of the volunteers who helped make the event such a success.

What SCA is Spotlighting this Month:

Summer Camp Subsidies:
It’s not too late to plan for the summer months! SCA offers camp subsidies for Suffield youth to attend summer camp of their choosing. Please contact SCA to see if you qualify.

Rental Rebate Program for Elderly & Disabled Residents:
The State provides a reimbursement program for renters who are elderly or disabled, and whose incomes do not exceed certain limits. SCA now is taking applications.

SCA Garden:
Youth in need of community service hours are encouraged to contact SCA to help maintain our garden this summer. Please email Danielle at daniellea@suffieldcommunityaid.org if you’re interested.

Some Ongoing Program and Updates:

Memory Café:
Pat Beeman, MSW, hosts a monthly supportive group for individuals with cognitive loss and their loved ones. The group meets the last Tuesday of each month from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Suffield Senior Center. June’s group will be held on June 27. Please call Pat Beeman to register at 860-668-1986.

SCA Offers Free Lunch at the Suffield Senior Center:
Have lunch on us! SCA will cover the cost of two lunches per week at the Senior Center for financially eligible residents. Meals are homemade, delicious and nutritionally balanced! Enjoy socializing with friends without the hassle of making your lunch.

Take a Ride with Nutmeg Senior Rides: Door-to-Door Transportation
In conjunction with Nutmeg Senior Rides, Suffield Community Aid has funding to assist financially qualified Suffield residents, age 65 and older, or persons with a disability, get to their desired destination. Nutmeg Senior Rides provides door-through-door transportation, for any purpose, 365 days a year.

Parkinson’s Peer Support Group at the Suffield Senior Center:
Our next meeting is scheduled for June 13 from 11a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Senior Center. Pizza and refreshments will be served. Please call SCA to RSVP.

Social Service Consultations at Kent Memorial Library:
Pat Beeman, MSW, holds office hours the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the KML. Residents wishing to schedule a consultation on June 15 can register online by going to suffield-library.org. If you prefer to come to the office, call 860-668-1986.

Financial Support for Mental Health Services:
Let us help you-take-care-of-you! SCA is offering financial support for Suffield residents to access mental health services. SCA can assist with co-pays for residents with insurance. For those without insurance, free and limited counseling sessions will be covered.

SCA Food Pantry is Well Stocked:
If you can benefit from food assistance or personal care items, call SCA for confidential and discreet help.
