Summer Reading at KML
Summer reading officially kicked off at Kent Memorial Library on Monday, June 19, but it’s not too late to join in the fun! Suffield residents, stop by to register for the program, participate in one of our fabulous programs, and take a look at a fabulous array of raffle prizes. Children’s and YA Programs

Create A Book Display With Ms. Sandy!
Mondays June 19 through July 31, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Grades 1 and up
Book an hour with Ms. Sandy and help her create a book display. Pick a theme, or share your favorite books, and learn how to find the books on the shelf. Registration is required. Please only register for one this summer.

Lego Club
Mondays, June 19 and July 17 at 3:30 p.m.
Ages 4+
Join us for Lego Club! Participate in our building theme of the month, or construct whatever you can dream up. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Sponsored by the Friends of the Kent Memorial Library. No registration required.

Slimeapalooza!
Two Sessions: Thursday, June 22 at 11 and 2
Grades K – 12
Roll up your sleeves and get busy making slime! We’ll have all the ingredients for fun at Slime-a-palooza! Registration required. Sponsored by the Friends of the Kent Memorial Library.

Rhyme Time
Fridays, 10:30 am throughout the summer
Ages 0-5
Bring your singing voice! There will be singing, dancing, bubbles, and fun! This program will be held outside. No registration required.

Teens@TheLibrary: Watercolor Crafts
Thursday, June 29 at 3:30 p.m.
Grades 5-12
We’ll be creating abstract art with watercolors. Learn different techniques and experiment to see what you can achieve with watercolor paint! No registration required. While supplies last.

Farm Story Time with Ms. Wendy
Wednesday, July 5 at 10:30 a.m.
Ages 2-5
If you had a farm, what crops would you grow? Would you have animals? Come read some farm stories and make a craft! It’s that time of year again! Summer reading at Kent Memorial Library! Chalk Day!

Calling all artists! Let’s decorate the sidewalk ramp at the library. We have the chalk, you bring the ideas. No registration required.

Bone By Bone: Comparing Animal Skeletons
Saturday, August 5 at 10:30 a.m.
Families, Ideal for grades K-4
What animal would you be if your finger bones grew so long they reached your feet? Or what if you had no leg bones, but kept your arm bones? Join us for an interactive program with author Sara Levine as she reads her book Bone By Bone: Comparing Animal Skeletons and then teaches us all about those animals and their bones. Rise to the Challenge Book Discussion
Monday, July 10 and August 14 at 6:30 p.m.
Read and discuss books that have been challenged and/or banned. Teens and adults are welcome to join the discussion. Books are available at the library. July’s title will be A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle, and August’s title will be Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe. Registration is recommended but not required.

Introduction to Qigong
Wednesday, July 12 at 7 p.m.
Long day? Come join our very own staff member, Pamela Cincotta, for an evening of gentle movement with the ancient practices of Quigong (chi-gong) and Yoga. Feel the day’s stress and tension melt away as we bring in relaxation and calm for a good night’s sleep. Bring your yoga mat and wear comfortable clothing. Suitable for all levels. Creating Loofa Soap
Join Suffield resident Libby from “Made by LLC” to create your own custom loofah soap to take home. During this hands-on experience, you will be learning about soap-making, the advantages of loofah soap, and how Libby grows her own loofahs on her farm for this product. Registration required. On the Curry Trail
Wednesday, July 26 at 6:30 p.m.
Enjoy a little taste of India in Suffield with Pinki! During this in-person cooking demo, you will be able to learn simple ways to cook Indian food. You will also get to sample the delicious fare and go home with some key ingredients to recreate the magic of Pinki’s kitchen. Registration required. Summer Reading Wrap-Up Party

B.J. Smith Book Discussion
Tuesday, August 15 at 3 p.m.
B.J. Smith returns with another round of book discussions! The first book for discussion will be Knots and Crosses by Ian Rankin. Registration is requested.
