Last year’s Oktoberfest was the first public event held at the newly renovated Hilltop Farm barn.

Suffield’s First Selectman’s office and The Friends of the Farm at Hilltop have begun planning the second annual Oktoberfest, scheduled for Saturday, October 7 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Hilltop Farm.

“We’ve set up seven subcommittees covering everything from music to marketing to grounds preparation, under the direction of Hilltop Farm Board Member Joe Gervascio,” said Hilltop President Howie Orr who co-chairs the event along with First Selectman Colin Moll. He said last year’s inaugural Oktoberfest drew over 150 attendees and this year the hope is to attract over 200.

“Plans are tentative but some of the additions we’re considering for this year include an outdoor tent to hold a band for dancing, pretzels and fun games,” said Orr.

He noted that tentative plans call for a variety of European food, beer, wine and soft drinks which proved popular last year. Pricing has not been solidified but should be similar to last year’s charge for food and alcohol higher than for the same food offering with soft drinks and water, but no alcohol said Orr.

According to Orr, Hilltop Farm will offer online registration through its Events website menu once plans are decided.
