Second Baptist Church and First Church of Christ Congregational, will be joining for combined summer worship services on Sundays at 10 a.m. through the month of July. The services will be held in the sanctuary of Second Baptist Church except for Sunday, July 9 for the special Blessing of the Animals service which will be held on the Town Green.
Our Growth and Outreach Ministry is excited about our “Fill a Backpack” mission’s opportunity that is continuing through the month of July. Many tags remain! Please stop by our display in our welcome center and grab a tag. Donated items can be dropped off at the same location. It is our hope to fully stock several backpacks for Suffield Community Aid. Mark your calendars for Vacation Bible School (VBS) at Second Baptist Church July 10-14 from 9 a.m. to noon. “Stellar” VBS will rocket kids on an out-of-this world adventure! Please join us for an exciting week of music, crafts, snacks and more. For kids ages 4-12. Registration fee is $15 and forms are available by calling the church office at 860-668-1661 or click on our Facebook page. Middle School and High School volunteers are needed. Upcoming Bible Study Opportunity: Discussions are taking place to begin a group Lectio Divina study during the summer. What is Lectio Divina? It is Latin for “divine reading” or “sacred reading”. It describes a way of prayerfully reading the Scriptures whereby we gradually let go of our own agenda and open ourselves to what God wants to say to us. The four stages of Lectio Divina include:
- Lectio (reading)
- Meditation (reflection)
- Oratio (responding)
- Contemplation (resting/remaining)
