The Polish Heritage Society is pleased to announce a special meeting on Wednesday, July 12 at 10 a.m. I will repeat my recent Suffield Historical Society presentation, “Changes in Suffield: 1900 – 1920.” The discussion will focus on how the Industrial Age of the 1800s triggered significant emigration from Eastern Europe. It will also examine the connection between the Suffield cigar industry and the immigrant population. This meeting will be held at the Suffield Ambulance Center. All are welcome to attend.

The Polish Heritage Society has set up a display at The King House Museum that will recognize the Polish-American history and culture of Suffield. There is also a showcase full of antique cigar boxes from Suffield manufacturers. Ms. Christine Ritok, associate curator of the museum, has made some changes within the King House since her arrival a year ago. If you haven’t visited in a while, you may see some historical items not previously exhibited. The museum is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m.
