On Monday, 9/11, the 3rd Annual Golf Outing to benefit Tunnel to Towers (T2T.org) was held at Crestview Country Club in Agawam, Mass. The tournament was hosted by Dave Shute, his wife Kim and their family of Suffield. The tournament raised $13,240.93 this year exceeding their goal of $10,000.00 We do this because we are determined to never forget what happened on 9/11, 2001.

On September 11, 2001, terrorists attacked our homeland killing almost three thousand innocent people at the World Trade Center in NYC. People like you and I, just going to work.

We lost hundreds of first responders. Those people never returned home to their families.

Since the war on terrorism began, we’ve lost over 7,000 Americans during combat operation in Iraq and Afghanistan. Unfortunately, the war casualties continue. On average 22 veterans a day commit suicide. More than 30,000 veterans have taken their own lives, more than four times as many as were killed in action in Iraq and Afghanistan.

We do this in remembrance of those by raising money for an organization determined to help as many as possible who were left behind. T2T pays tuition for the children of those fallen heroes fire, police and military members. They pay off the mortgages for the spouses left behind. They build homes for disabled and homeless veterans.

Tunnel to Towers is a great organization. T2T asks you to donate just $11 dollars a month. Ninety-five cents of every dollar raised goes directly to those affected.

We are so fortunate to have people in our community willing to sponsor and play in our outing. We had 38 small businesses, farms, families and just kind people who donated anonymously.

We would like to thank George Fields and his family from Suffield Hardware. George donated a very expensive Traeger Smoker. We sold tickets on the 11th hole (a par 3). This alone generated $1,450.00!

We want to thank you sincerely from the bottom of our hearts for your support that allows us to help fulfill the mission of T2T – helping them to do good.
