The beginning of March has us in the middle of the Lenten Season at Second Baptist Church with many activities and services to participate in.

During Lent this year, Pastor Justin is leading a sermon series on “Baptist Beliefs and the Four Fragile Freedoms”.

  • March 3 – Church Freedom
  • March 10 – Religious Freedom
  • March 17 – Soul Freedom

Earlier Sundays had concentrated on “Who Are the People Called Baptists” and “Bible Freedom”. All Sunday services start at 10:00 am. Following the service on March 17, Pastor Justin and Barry Sisk (Church Historian) will provide more information about Baptist beliefs during a question/answer time.

During Holy Week, many worship opportunities are available:

  • March 24 – Palm Sunday, 10:00 am. Come celebrate Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem!
  • March 28 – Maundy Thursday Service & Service of Tenebrae, 7:00 pm. We have been invited to join First Church of Christ, Suffield to reflect on the Lord’s Last Supper.
  • March 29 – Good Friday, 3:00 – 8:00 pm. The sanctuary will be open for a time of reflection and contemplation. At 3:00 pm a short service will take place.
  • March 31 – Easter Sunday

      o 6 a.m. – Sunrise Service – Sunrise Park
o 10:00 am – Easter Sunday Worship Service

Opportunities for strengthening and sharing our faith and Biblical knowledge continue through:

  • Contemplative Practices group – March 6, 4 p.m.
  • Special Needs Fellowship – Monday, March 11, 6:30 p.m. This is an outreach program for our friends with cognitive limitations to give them a safe environment for crafts, singing, and fellowship.
