The Suffield Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Anthony Hibbert as Principal of Suffield High School. Mr. Hibbert was selected by the Board of Education to fill the Suffield High School Principal vacancy following a thorough and rigorous interview process.
Mr. Hibbert comes to Suffield Public Schools following successful tenures in a broad range of roles in both teaching and administration. He began his career in education twenty-nine years ago as a high school Social Studies teacher in New York and then at Litchfield High School where he also served as the Social Studies Department Chairperson. From 2007 – 2015, Mr. Hibbert served as the Wamogo High School Assistant Principal and Warren Elementary School Principal in Regional District No. 6.
From 2015 to 2024, Mr. Hibbert served as the Oxford Middle School Principal, Assistant Superintendent and Oxford High School Principal. During his tenure at Oxford, Mr. Hibbert was an integral part of leading instruction as well as working on large district projects.
Throughout his career in education, Mr. Hibbert has gained a wealth of experience in a wide range of secondary school instructional programs and practices. He has led his schools to earn many recognitions including School of Distinction, NELMS Spotlight School and CAS Middle School of the Year and National Blue Ribbon School. Mr. Hibbert has experience with NEASC standards, curriculum and instruction and extensive experience with building an engaged community of learners.
Mr. Hibbert earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from Loyola College and his Masters of Arts in Philosophy, Curriculum and Teaching from Fairfield University. Continuing his education, Mr. Hibbert completed his Sixth Year in Educational Leadership from Sacred Heart University and earned his Superintendent of Schools certification at Sacred Heart University.
Mr. Hibbert holds Connecticut State Department of Education Endorsements of History and Social Studies Grades 7-12 (026), Intermediate Administration and Supervision (092), School Business Administrator (085) and Superintendent of Schools (093).
Mr. Hibbert will officially begin as Principal of Suffield High School on July 1.
