Troop 260’s newest Eagle Scouts, Dylan Holmes and Nicholas Sattan affirm their commitment
Troop 260 is proud to congratulate Dylan Holmes and Nicholas Sattan on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. Troops 260 & 262 celebrated Dylan and Nick at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor on Tuesday, May 28. “A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.” Both young men exemplify these scouting ideals throughout their lives.
Dylan and Nick have had many wonderful adventures with Troop 260. They have participated in urban navigation events throughout the U.S., canoeing the Allagash Waterway multiple times plus other smaller canoe trips in Connecticut. They have hiked many miles in the woods, explored underground cave systems and biked scenic byways. Dylan also participated in the troop’s first international adventure in Italy in 2023.
Dylan started in Scouts as a Cub with Pack 266. He earned his Arrow of Light and crossed over to Boy Scout Troop 260 in March of 2018. Dylan was quartermaster for his patrol and earned the National Outdoor Camping Award and Blue Nose 4 degree.
As part of Dylan’s trail to Eagle he earned the necessary fourteen Eagle required merit badges plus nine elective badges. For Dylan’s Eagle Service Project, he led a team to build a canoe and kayak storage rack at Sunrise Park. An Eagle Scout Service Project is an opportunity for a Scout to demonstrate leadership of others while performing a project for the benefit of their community.
Dylan is more than just a scout; he is an honor student, athlete and avid outdoorsman. Dylan will be starting his senior year at Suffield High School this fall.
Nick started in Scouts as a Cub with Pack 266. He earned his Arrow of Light and crossed over to Boy Scout Troop 260 in March of 2016. Nick was quartermaster and assistant patrol leader for his patrol, and he earned the National Outdoor Camping Award.
As part of Nick’s trail to Eagle he earned the necessary fourteen Eagle required merit badges plus seven elective badges. For Nick’s Eagle Service Project, he led a team to build raised bed gardens at Asnuntuck Community College.
Nick graduated from Suffield High School in 2023. He is currently a student at Syracuse University majoring in finance and accounting.
Eagle is the highest attainable rank in the Scouts BSA program. Achieving this goal is no small feat. Only four percent of Scouts persevere to attain the rank of Eagle. These young men have showed they have the fortitude and ability to lead and be positive citizens. There is no doubt they will soar in life and do great things in the future.
