First Church of Christ, UCC is an open and affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ. No matter who you are, or where you are, on life’s journey, YOU are welcome here. Come as you are, for this is God’s house – a house of prayer for all people, and God welcomes each one who comes.
Beginning Sunday, June 31, we joined our friends and neighbors at Second Baptist Church for Sunday Worship, 10 a.m. in their Sanctuary. The combined services continue through the month of July, with a potluck breakfast being held on Sunday, July 31, prior to worship. All are welcome! Enjoy these collaborative worship services in the comfort of Second Baptist Sanctuary Air Conditioning! Services can be streamed on their YouTube channel; a direct link can be found at www.secondbaptistsuffield.org.
Our Blessing of the Animals worship is scheduled for Sunday, July 14, at 10 a.m. on the Green. Bring your furry, feathered, or scaled friend for a blessing at this fun service! Can your pet not join us? That’s ok! Bring a collar, toy, blanket, or bed for a blessing to bring home to them. In the event of inclement weather, our Blessing of the Animals service leaders will be outside in front of First Church, welcoming you to drive up with your pet friend and family for a “drive thru” blessing! Same time, same faithful blessings!
Due to nature-related and unforeseen circumstances at historical First Baptist Church on the Hill, the community worship series normally held at First Baptist Church will be held at Second Baptist Church this summer. This beloved worship series will honor the traditions of years past in the new location. These services will be held August 1–September 1.
Rev. Diann continues to run a dedicated and vibrant Wednesday morning Bible study group at 10 a.m. each week via Zoom; contact us for more information.
Our Blessing Box is located right in front of First Church on High St and is open to our neighbors and community members to “take what you need; leave what you can”. We encourage our community to donate; please do not donate leftovers, perishable foods or foods requiring refrigeration.
First Church hosts support groups in our building for their meetings, including Narcotics Anonymous, Families Anonymous, and Alcoholics Anonymous. Contact us for the full list of meeting information.
Our church office transitions to summer hours on June 20; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Voicemails and emails will be reviewed daily during the summer season.
