In an effort to bridge generations and foster meaningful connections in the community, Suffield Youth Services and the Suffield Senior Center are thrilled to announce the launch of the new Student to Senior Pen Pal Program. This initiative pairs Suffield students with senior citizens residing in town, creating an enriching exchange of experiences, ideas and friendship.
The program aims to strengthen inter-generational bonds, offering students a unique opportunity to learn from the wisdom and experiences of older generations while providing seniors with companionship and a fresh perspective on youth culture today. Each student will be matched with a senior pen pal and participants will correspond through handwritten letters sharing stories, interests and insights.
The Student to Senior Pen Pal program kicks off in September and will be accepting new participants on a rolling basis.
For more information about the program or to sign up, students and their families can contact Kelly Giannuzzi, Director of Youth Services, at kgiannuzzi@suffieldct.gov. Interested senior participants should contact Bethany Sullivan, Assistant to the Community Services Director, at bsullivan@suffieldct.gov, (860) 668-8830.
Don’t miss this opportunity to build meaningful connections in our community through the art of letter-writing!
