The gallery in the Suffield Library will be featuring a sale of paintings by a gifted Suffield artist, Barbi Coffin, during October. This is the second time in recent history that Barbi has donated her pieces, to be sold by the Second Chance Shop, for the benefit of the Villages, a Hartford charity. The first event resulted in over $10,000 being raised.

The Second Chance Shop, a non-profit boutique thrift shop completely staffed by volunteers, is sponsoring the art sale. All profits at both the shop and art sale go to Hartford’s Village for Families and Children which helps children and families heal from trauma and improve their social and emotional coping skills by providing counseling and therapy, school readiness programs, home visits for new parents, mentoring programs, parenting classes, a financial literacy program, teen pregnancy and truancy prevention programs, foster parenting and adoption.

Paintings will be on display in the gallery from October 1 through the 31. Barbi Coffin will be hosting a reception on Thursday evening, October 10, from 6 – 8 p.m. This event is open to the public.

The show is made possible by Barbi Coffin, the Second Chance Shop, the Suffield Arts Council and the Kent Memorial Library staff.
