New Playgrounds Completed at Spaulding and McAlister

In a celebration of community spirit and dedication, Spaulding and McAlister Schools have officially opened our new playscapes, thanks to the incredible support from the town of Suffield. The accessible surfacing was added in early September, completing both projects. We continue to work with Suffield Foundation for Excellent Schools to fundraise for the final stage of both projects, which is landscaping. Our hope is that the landscaping will add a welcoming environment and bring these vibrant new playgrounds to life. With a target of $45,000, the campaign will hopefully be a testament to the power of community involvement and generosity in providing a beautiful recreation space for all.

The new playscapes, designed to be an inclusive space for students of all ages, feature several modern play structures, sensory elements and safe, soft surfacing. Each playground includes a climbing wall, interactive play panels, and a variety of swings and slides, all thoughtfully designed to encourage physical activity, creativity, and social interaction among children.

This project began last year when the town of Suffield committed Capital Expenditure Funds to replace the existing aging and failing equipment at both schools. The new playscape is not only a physical upgrade but also an investment in the well-being and development of students at Spaulding and McAlister Schools. The inclusive design of the playgrounds ensures that every student has the opportunity to enjoy and benefit from the space.
