Intense moments on the field as young players battle it out in our Parks & Recreation fall soccer league!

As the leaves begin to change and the crisp autumn air sets in, there’s one thing our community eagerly anticipates: the start of the fall soccer season with our Parks & Recreation Department! Whether you’re a parent cheering from the sidelines, or a player perfecting your footwork, this season is shaping up to be one of the best yet.

As in previous years, we’re thrilled to offer a wide range of soccer programs for players of all ages and skill levels. From the Kindergarten division, where the youngest stars (aged 5 years old) learn the basics of the game, to the competitive older divisions (ages 6-12), everyone gets a chance to hone their skills and have fun. With a focus on teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill development, our leagues ensure that every child gets a chance to shine. Over 280 Suffield kids are currently participating in the Fall Parks & Recreation season! The Suffield Soccer Stars have learned new skills while having lots of fun. Soccer practices started on Tuesday, September 3rd. Each Saturday through November 2nd players have been participating in games against one another. There have been many goals scored and tremendous sportsmanship all around throughout the season!

Our volunteer coaches have done a tremendous job each week planning practices and putting all of their effort into the season with one goal in mind, providing the kids with a fun and educational fall soccer experience.

2024 Fall Flag Football Season

The Suffield Parks & Recreation Department is currently running our sixth season of Flag Football! Participants are currently running, throwing, and catching many touchdowns throughout the season. This season has taught participants many useful football skills while having fun playing with their teammates. We would like to thank all of our coaches, referees, and parents for all their time and effort. We look forward to the end of the year playoffs coming up at the end of October.

Registration Now Open For The 2024/25 Winter Basketball League!

As the days grow shorter and the chill of winter sets in, it’s almost time to swap your soccer cleats for basketball sneakers because our Parks & Recreation Department’s Winter Basketball League registration is now open! Whether you’re a returning player or looking to shoot hoops for the first time, this season promises to bring plenty of fun, skill development, and friendly competition for players of all ages.

League Overview

Our Winter Basketball League offers divisions for both boys and girls from ages 5-13, with separate divisions to ensure balanced competition and age-appropriate instruction. We believe in creating a fun, inclusive environment where all players have the opportunity to improve their basketball skills, stay active, and develop lifelong friendships.

What to Expect

  • Skill Development: Our league focuses on building fundamental basketball skills, such as shooting, dribbling, passing, and defense. Whether your child is a first-time player or a seasoned athlete, coaches work to help each player grow.
  • Teamwork and Sportsmanship: Just like all of our Parks & Recreation programs, our basketball league emphasizes teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship. We strive to instill values that go beyond the court and help shape positive character traits in our young athletes.
  • Games and Practices: Practices will be held once a week, with games taking place on Saturdays at our community gyms. Teams are grouped by age and skill level to ensure an enjoyable and competitive experience for all.
