The Suffield Polish Heritage Society will meet on Wednesday, November 6 at 10 a.m. at the Ambulance Center on Bridge Street. This will be a repeat presentation of Leaders of the Early Polish Community, a topic that garnered great interest at a recent evening meeting of the Suffield Historical Society. The discussion will focus on the influential and successful Polish immigrants who formed the St. Joseph Society and founded St. Joseph Church. Descendants of some of those men (Golon, Kulas, Kopernik, Rapacki, Zera and Zukowski) are still in or near Suffield. Maybe your great grandfather was one of them.

This meeting is also a good opportunity to bring any items you want to loan to the Historical Society for the HolidayFest on December 14 and 15 at the King House Museum. The theme for this event is Polish art and customs. The Society is deeply appreciative of the support of Susan Urban, a specialist in Polish folk art. Ms. Urban has conducted wycinanki (paper-cutting) and pisanki (Easter egg decoration) workshops for the PHS, and her expertise will greatly enhance our event. If you are willing to loan an item and its explanation or story, if applicable, but cannot attend the meeting, please get in touch with Sara Zak at 860-668-7194.

Please save December 4 for the annual Koledy concert. It will be held at Sacred Heart Church at 10:15 a.m.

All our events are free and open to the public.
