Opportunities for strengthening and sharing our faith and Biblical knowledge occur through worship as well as through small group opportunities:

  • Sundays – 9:00 a.m. – Meditation, Reflection, and Prayer. This is a quiet time for individuals to come together to meditate, read, journal, and pray – an opportunity to “try out” individual spiritual practices, but surrounded by others providing communal support.
  • Friday, November 1 – All Saint’s Day Service – Old Center Cemetery (Behind First Church)– 6:15-6:45 p.m. Join Second Baptist Church for an interactive walking service recognizing the saints in our lives and those who have gone before us. Dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes as the terrain is uneven; a flashlight is also encouraged. Note: In case of rain or snow, this service will NOT be held.
  • Sunday, November 3 – Worship Service and Communion – 10:00 a.m. Join us for service and participate in the recognition of Pastor Justin’s ordination by American Baptist Churches of Connecticut.
  • Video Series continues through Sunday, November 17 – 11:15 a.m. Join us after worship in a five-week video series titled “Church: A Community Called for the Future”. Pastor Justin will lead us in a discussion where we will attempt to answer the question: Is the Church dead or alive?
  • Pub Theology – November 20, 6:00 p.m. at Three Figs Restaurant This is a space to dive deeply into topics involving faith, meaning, identity, culture, politics, and more! Come bring your questions and your curiosity and pull up a chair.

Second Baptist has several ongoing missions.

  • We continue to support Shriner’s Hospital by collecting aluminum pull-tabs (from soda cans or other food cans) Proceeds from the sale of the tabs are used to benefit the patients in many ways. Only ALUMINUM (NON-MAGNETIC) tabs are usable.
  • Soup Kitchen Ministry – Saturday, November 9. Serving a meal for anyone in need at the Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen at South Congregational Church in Springfield, Mass.
  • Special Needs Fellowship – Monday, November 11, 6:30 p.m. This is a monthly outreach program for our friends with cognitive limitations to give them a safe environment for crafts, singing, and fellowship.

Several Community Events will be held at Second Baptist Church in October:

  • Christmas in Suffield – Saturday, November 2 – 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. – Second Baptist will join others in town and host a holiday fair at the church. With various crafters being represented, there will be jams and more, arts and crafts, bird houses, jewelry, plants, and other items to help with holiday gift buying. Treat yourself to some delicious home-baked goods. Don’t forget to check out the indoor tag sale while at the church!
  • Second Baptist Church is hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Tuesday, November 5 in our Fellowship Hall. For an appointment, please visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

Contact the church office (office@secondbaptistsuffield.org or 860-668-1661) if you are interested in participating in any of the above opportunities. Additional information for these and other activities/opportunities at the church is available on secondbaptistsuffield.org, along with our Facebook and Instagram sites – The Rev.
