First Church of Christ, Congregational UCC in Suffield is an open and affirming congregation within the United Church of Christ. We invite everyone to join us for worship on Sunday mornings at 10:00 am, either in-person or via our YouTube livestream. Come as you are, for this is God’s house—a house of prayer for all, where God embraces everyone who enters!
We begin Advent on Sunday, December 1, and we welcome Rev. Diann back from her sabbatical! We will have breakfast that morning beginning at 9 a.m., followed by worship at 10 a.m. Following worship, we will have Advent wreath making in the Fellowship Hall.
Thursday, December 12, you are invited to swing into the holiday season by joining your fellow members and friends of First Church at the Glad Tidings Auction being held at First Church! Join us at 6:30 p.m. in the E. Gay Room at First Church (Auction begins at 7:00 p.m.). The auction is in-person only. All proceeds raised from the auction will support Suffield Community Fuel Bank.
Following worship on December 15, we will be heading to Suffield by the River to host a Christmas carol sing! Join us in song! That evening we provide a meal for Cathedral in the Night, serving our neighbors in need in Northampton, Mass.
Thursday, December 19 at 7 p.m., we will host “A Light in the Darkness, A Service of Remembrance” in our Sanctuary. This ecumenical service will include many of the aspects of a regular Christmas Service but will have a quieter tone. Individuals and families may be facing their first holiday season after the death of a loved one or the loss of a job, divorce, or other losses we experience throughout our lives. All are welcome.
Tuesday, December 24 is Christmas Eve, and all are invited to celebrate the birth of our Savior! Our Family service will begin at 5 p.m. in the Sanctuary, and our Candlelight service will be at 9 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
We continue to hold services every Sunday through the month of January, with our Annual Meeting concluding the month.
The Blessing Box, located right in front of First Church, is open to our neighbors and community members, encouraging you to “take what you need; leave what you can.” We invite community donations, but please refrain from giving leftover foods, items requiring refrigeration or expired goods.
First Church also hosts support groups for NA, Families Anonymous, and AA meetings in our building. Contact us for a complete list of meetings.
If you need an in-person appointment at the church, please reach out to the church office at office@fcsuffield.org. Please note that our church office is closed December 25 and 26.
For questions, general inquiries, or pastoral needs, feel free to contact the church office or leave a message at 860-668-7223. We are here to assist you and provide information and support regarding First Church. God bless!
