Suffield High School graduate, Robyn (Smith) Jennings and graduate of UConn Medical School, and her husband Brian Jennings are both family practice doctors who have worked in various parts of the United States as well as Ghana (just before the pandemic) and more recently in Uganda.
Their seven-month sojourn in Uganda was particularly impactful. Because of generous donations to the Mission Doctors Association, the couple made it possible to introduce a fetal heart monitor and training for the staff at Nyakibale Hospital. The fetal monitor, a critical device, and the life-saving training given will help determine if a normal delivery is possible or if a C-section is necessary. Donations also made it possible for Robyn to provide education and resources in healthy diets for people suffering from hypertension and diabetes. This education will help hundreds of patients manage their health conditions and extend their lives. They were also able to organize, with other Mission Doctors, a Health Fair where they treated five hundred people in one day. Many of the people had waited years to be seen and treated by a doctor. Doctors Robyn and Brian Jennings continue their work in family practice in the U.S., currently in Wichita, Kansas.
