April Show in the KML Gallery

The Suffield Arts Council will present a show of photography by Suffield resident Emile Backes, in the William Pinney Gallery of Suffield’s Kent Memorial Library, during the month of April.

Originally scheduled in March of 2020, Emile’s show was cancelled just two hours before his reception, a victim of Covid, as was much of the world. Fast forward to 2026, six years later, he feels blessedand fortunate to have this opportunity.

Born in La Jolla, California, Mr. Backes began drawing at an early age, and discovered photography, using a Polaroid and later, cell phone cameras. He enjoys capturing images in color through his lens. The show will have many views of Europe, taken on a trip celebrating his 30th birthday, as well as photographs taken in Suffield.

The show will be on display from April 1 through April 30. A “Meet the Artist” reception is scheduled for Thursday, April 9 from 6 – 8 p.m. in the gallery. The public is invited.
A graduate of Suffield High School, Emile works at the Highland Park Market. He enjoys drawing, cycling, writing poetry, and has a great sense of humor.

This show is made possible through the joint efforts of Emile Backes, the Suffield Arts Council, and the Kent Memorial Library staff.
