In this third installment of my series highlighting the many services our library provides, I am shining a spotlight on our fantastic programming. Did you know that the library offers a wide range of programs for all ages that goes far beyond book discussion groups?
Programming here at KML is often an all-hands-on-deck affair! Every full-time staff member (and sometimes other staff members, too) plans and conducts programs, while our library assistants and clerks contribute countless hours of support by assisting with the necessary preparation and behind-the-scenes work needed to help make each program a success.
Speaking of behind the scenes, there is a flurry of activity leading up to every program that our patrons don’t see – from coming up with the initial idea and researching costs and logistics, to booking artists or performers, purchasing the supplies, preparing materials and getting the space ready. All of that hard work eventually comes together to create all the seamless and fun experiences we strive to provide for our patrons and community!
Here are just a few examples from October that showcase the breadth of programming we offer here at the library:
For Children, Young Adults, and Families:
Fall, Winnie the Pooh, and Halloween-themed story times
Rhyme Time
Book Clubs
KML Kids’ Scary Story Contest
Dungeons & Dragons Group
Giant Family Game Night
All About Daffodils with the Suffield Garden Club
Suffield Reads Kwame!
For Adults:
Reading 9-5: Oral History by Lee Smith Book Discussion
Mahjong at the Library!
Ron Farina Book Launch
Craft Night for Adults
BJ Smith Book Discussion
Fall Fitness
Stress Reset: Rest, Restore, Renew
Of course, this list is by no means exhaustive. Programming changes every month, and before we know it, the Winter Reading Program will be upon us. (Where did summer go?!)
So as the weather turns colder, continue to keep us in mind when you are looking for something fun to do. You can register for programs on our website, in person or by phone. We hope to see you soon!
