Grant Recipients Announced

The Suffield Community Fund at the Greater Hartford Gives Foundation has awarded grants in its most recent grant cycle totaling just over $54,000 to twelve different groups that support the Suffield community. The funds awarded are intended to enhance the quality of life or otherwise contribute to solving a direct need of the Suffield community.

Through its 2026 grant cycle, the Suffield Community Fund proudly supported the following organizations and projects:

• Boy Scout Troop 260 – Camping/canoeing equipment
• Generation Power of Connecticut – Fuel and water assistance for Suffield residents
• Renaissance Charitable Foundation – Support for the Bowling Buddies program
• Sibbil Dwight Kent DAR – Gravestone repair
• Suffield Elementary Parent Teachers Organization – Digital wellness project
• Suffield Lacrosse Association – Replacement of goals and nets
• Suffield Middle School – New reading series
• Suffield Players – Parking lot repairs
• Suffield Public Schools – EcoLab at Spaulding School
• Suffield Volunteer Ambulance Association – EMS Simulation trainers
• Suffield Youth Services – Suffield Sidekicks Program
• UR Community Cares – Technology training for seniors

Since launching Community Funds in 2019 in each of the 29 towns it serves, including Suffield, Greater Hartford Gives has supported more than 1,000 grants totaling more than $4 million (through the end of 2025) – funding projects that directly benefit town residents and reflect community priorities and lived experience. The program began with a $100,000 investment per town in 2019 and has continued with additional investments in 2021 and 2025, including funds available for immediate grantmaking and long-term endowment.

Organizations that support the Suffield community are encouraged to apply for a grant in the next cycle in 2027. To be considered, an organization must be registered as a non-profit organization (NPO) with a 501(c)(3) designation as a public charity or must obtain a fiscal sponsor registered as a 501(c)(3).

Municipalities and other local government agencies seeking funding for purposes not typically funded by public revenue sources and religions organizations seeking support for non-religious purposes may also be eligible to apply. Full eligibility requirements will be listed in the Request for Proposal (RFP).

The Suffield Community Fund Committee is a group of volunteer residents who help identify local needs, shape grant priorities and review proposals for projects that enhance quality of life in Suffield. The committee makes grant recommendations to the Greater Hartford Gives Foundation.
