Ethan Boldt, Troop 260’s newest Eagle Scout
Ethan joined Scouting as a Cub Scout, crossing over to Troop 260 in February 2020. Despite beginning his Scouting journey during the disruptions of COVID, Ethan made the most of every opportunity, accomplished great things and always did so with a smile on his face and a willingness to help those around him.
Ethan’s scouting journey is an impressive one. He has earned the Arrow of Light, accumulated an impressive five palms and received the National Outdoor Achievement Award for Camping. At the close of every Troop meeting Ethan is known for saying, “If anyone needs anything for your uniform please see me after the meeting.” Commitment and leadership are central to Ethan’s moral fiber. He has served as Quartermaster, Secretary, Patrol Leader and ultimately Senior Patrol Leader. Ethan’s training includes Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops and National Youth Leadership Training. Ethan is also a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow, Scouting’s National Honor Society and a founding member of Venturing Crew, 261.
Adventure has been a defining part of Ethan’s Scouting experience. He has had multiple canoe expeditions on the Allagash Waterway and rivers throughout Connecticut, cave exploration trips, long-distance hikes, scenic bike rides and international adventures to Italy and Iceland. In addition to troop activities Ethan is very active in the Order of the Arrow and is a regular volunteer for induction ceremonies and other events. He attended the National Order of the Arrow Conference in 2024.
Ethan’s curiosity and excitement to learn is perhaps best reflected in his merit badge record: he earned the 13 required Eagle badges plus an additional 32 electives—far exceeding the 21 badges needed for the rank. For his Eagle Scout Service Project, Ethan led a team in restoring one of the atriums at Spaulding Elementary School. The project involved cleaning out and repairing the space, replanting the atrium and transforming it into a space that students and teachers can use and enjoy for many years to come.
Ethan still finds time to excel in life outside of scouts. Ethan is a senior at Suffield High School, has been active in theater since he was four years old, and has been broadcasting school news since 7th grade. Ethan is a regular anchor on the SHS Morning Update. After graduating, Ethan plans on attending college to study Earth Science with a minor in Broadcasting.
Eagle Scout is the highest rank in the Scouts BSA program, achieved by only about four percent of Scouts. Ethan Boldt’s journey to Eagle reflects perseverance, leadership, and a genuine desire to make the world a better place. Troop 260 is incredibly proud of Ethan and excited to see where his talents, determination, and adventurous spirit will take him next.
