Parks & Rec’s 46th Annual Road Race Celebrates Another Record-Breaking Year

The Suffield Parks and Recreation Department’s 46th Annual 10K Road Race, 22nd Annual 5K Road Race, Free 2-Mile Walk and Kids Fun Run, presented by PeoplesBank, was held on Saturday, September 12 starting at Suffield Middle School.

It was another record-breaking year, with over 250 participants coming out to enjoy this annual Suffield tradition! The beautiful weather provided the perfect morning for runners, walkers, families, volunteers and supporters to come together for fitness, fun and community spirit. The event also served as the official kickoff to the Suffield on the Green weekend.

This year brought an exciting change to the event with the introduction of our new 5K course. We received very positive feedback from runners who enjoyed the new route and the opportunity to experience more of Suffield along the course. The continued enthusiasm and support from our runners helped make the new course a great success.

Another highlight of this year’s race was our expanded prize offerings. More than $1,000 in cash prizes was awarded, along with gift card prizes from Fleet Feet of West Hartford. In addition, thanks to Fleet Feet, the top male and female finishers in both the 5K and 10K received a pair of HOKA sneakers. These exciting prizes added to the competitive spirit of the races and gave our top finishers even more to celebrate.

Participants enjoyed the picturesque Suffield courses, while families cheered on runners and children took part in the free Kids Fun Run and 2-Mile Walk. This year’s event was also part of Suffield’s celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, making the morning even more special.

We would like to thank everyone who helped make this event possible. A special thank you goes to our dedicated volunteers, the Suffield Parks and Recreation Commission and staff, Suffield Police Department, Suffield Fire Department, Suffield Ambulance, Department of Public Works, Senior Center volunteers, First Selectman’s Office, Suffield Public Schools and everyone who devoted their time and talents to make this a memorable and safe event for all participants.

A very special thank you goes to our generous sponsors and partners:
