On June 1, 2026, the Suffield Garden Club was thrilled to welcome eight new members during their annual meeting and luncheon at the Suffield Country Club. “We are so fortunate to be able to engage so many gardening enthusiasts who bring such a variety of interests and skills to the club,” said Membership Director Aggie Schulte. “Their energy and ideas are contagious.”

New Member Kelly Knight, joining in 2025, is already recruiting for the future.
New members are Mary Gagnon, Thia Flynn, Shana Motherway, Sheilyn Brown and Lisa Bachman from Suffield, Dick and Ellie Seiler from West Suffield and Sandra Blake from Windsor Locks. “Each new member has a mentor for their first year to help them learn about the many activities and events sponsored by the club,” said outgoing President Joyce Zien. The Suffield Garden Club’s work can be enjoyed throughout Suffield and West Suffield including the beautiful dogwood trees on Main Street, the swaths of daffodils in springtime, the plantings on the town green and the welcome signs greeting motorists entering town.
Traditionally, the annual meeting is also an occasion to vote on the SGC Board of Directors for the coming year. Lisa Parker will assume the role of President, and Emily Grant will assume the role of Vice President. “I’m excited to be part of such a passionate and dedicated Board,” said Parker. “Every incoming President chooses a particular focus for their term, and my passion is people. My wish is for every Garden Club member, old and new, to feel a sense of belonging, to enjoy digging in the dirt together, and to look on our communal work with a sense of pride.” The club will continue to engage with the public through educational programs to be announced later this summer.
The Suffield Garden Club, organized in 1934, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the beautification of our community and the preservation of our natural resources. New members are always welcome. To become a member or to learn more, visit www.SuffieldGardenClub.org.
