Suffield High School soccer star Nicole Stryjek signs to accept a scholarship at Fairfield University. With her are her proud parents, Ann and John.

When she signed on February 2 to accept a scholarship at Fairfield University, Nicole Stryjek, co-captain with Lindsey Cicitelli of the Suffield High School girls soccer team, had participated in a busy season in which the team had reached the NCCC semi-finals. But Nicole had not played a single game. She had torn the anterior cruciate ligament in one knee and had to stay benched. Coach David Sullivan said her participation was nevertheless intense: planning action in the games, shouting advice, cheering enthusiastically and generally doing everything a captain should do – except play.

Nicole had committed verbally to Fairfield as a sophomore, and the university’s scholarship offer now speaks to the confidence she engendered in the school that she would be a great player when she is fully recovered next year. Sullivan concurs with that prediction.

At Fairfield, Nicole intends to study finance and accounting. You Go Girl!
