On June 3, the Connecticut State FFA Convention was again held at Suffield High School. The convention was hosted by the Suffield FFA chapter, based in the Suffield Regional Agriscience Center. Enthusiastic vitality powered the event.

After general milling around and getting-together in the SHS Commons, opening ceremonies in the auditorium offered official welcomes and the ritualistic formalities of FFA meetings, all recited with natural enthusiasm. Among the activities scattered elsewhere throughout the school during the day were leadership workshops, a career show, sessions on public speaking, aquaculture, training in safe tractor operation, ag sales and marketing, nursery/landscaping, and more.

With 20 Connecticut chapters, the convention was well attended, and there were many opportunities for personal development. Describing itself, Connecticut FFA says, “The FFA is an integral component of Agricultural Education in Connecticut and develops premier leadership, personal growth and career success for its members.” From what was going on at the convention, that description seemed quite appropriate.
