Library Update

As explained in last month’s update, it had been determined that a faulty reversing valve was the culprit in the HVAC system failure that has prevented the planned pilot test that was needed to evaluate the selected PCB remediation method.

As it turned out, four of the six reversing valves in the three new systems were found to need replacement. The new equipment was delivered in early October, and a crew from Main Enterprises had completed the installation by mid-October. A thermal expansion valve also needed replacement.

By mid-October, the HVAC systems had been restarted, but reportedly another problem has been discovered. At press time, the Observer had not been able to learn the nature of the problem or what implications this will have on the continuing efforts to bring the library operation back to its home. It’s been over three years now on Ffyler Place!

The Permanent Building Commission went into executive session at their next meeting. No library votes were taken.
